Flutist, Paula Gudmundson is an active performer and freelance musician in the Twin Cities. She is currently a teaching artist at MacPhail Center for Music and currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Flute Performance at the University of Minnesota with Immanel Davis as a Berneking Fellowship recipient.
Ms. Gudmundson holds a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from Lawrence University and a Masters of Music in Flute Performance from the University of North Texas. She has received numerous awards including; University of North Texas Wind Studies Scholarship (1999-2001), Lawrence University Martin King Award (1999), Susan J. Parthum Memorial Scholarship(1998), Lawrence University President’s Prize (1998), Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM) Minority Fellowship (Summer 1997), and Lawrence University Conservatory of Music Scholarship (1995-1999).
Ms. Gudmundson has served as a board member of the Upper Midwest Flute Association (UMFA) and as Chair the Visual Documentation Committee of the National Flute Association. She has also conducted various flute choirs throughout the region. Since 2003 she has been a faculty member during the summer at the International Music Camp in Dunseith, ND
Ms. Gudmundson’s major teachers include Valerie Watts (University of Oklahoma), Adrianne Greenbaum (Mount Holyoke College), Alex Ogle (Hampshire College), Ernestine Whitman (Lawrence University), Terri Sundberg (University of North Texas) and Immanuel Davis (University of Minnesota).
